About the Exhibit

This online exhibit is based on a selection of manuscripts and early printed books held at the Special Collections Research Center, University of Michigan Library.  However, this selection is only a small representation of the research potential of our holdings: there are still numerous significant marks to be discovered and researched in our manuscript and printed books. If you have questions or comments about the exhibit, please, contact Pablo Alvarez (pabloalv@umich.edu).

I am very grateful to the following colleagues who generously offered their support and expertise to make this exhibit happen. Anne Cong-Huyen and Kristine Greive provided me with their technical support and feedback; Randal Stegmeyer and Karl Longstreth produced many of the high-resolution images. Moreover, I want to thank the U of M faculty and students who throughout all these years have help me identify extraordinary marks hidden in the pages of our manuscripts and early printed books.
