Chalk is a white mineral pigment composed fo calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is used as an extender in paints and is a main component in chalkboard chalk. Recently, less fine chalk has been mined in Nebraska, Arkansas, and Texas. A popular chalk mine, open to tourists, is located in Scotia, Nebraska. The map can be found here.
