Illuminated opening of a copy of the Qur’ān with marginal commentary providing translation in Persian. In manner of calligraphy, illumination, layout, etc, it is characteristic of the Qur’anic manuscripts produced in Kashmir, particularly during the latter part of the 18th and opening half of the 19th century.
