About me

I joined the U-M Library in August 2013. For almost eleven years serving as the Chinese Studies Librarian, my duties included Chinese studies collection development at the Asia Library, providing reference services for the interdisciplinary Chinese Studies community across the campus, and working closely with faculty and students on their research projects. I have also been a faculty associate and an Executive Committee member of the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies (LRCCS).

In March 2024, I was appointed the Director of Asia Library, overseeing the library's development of collection, services, and programming, and leading the library’s partnerships with U-M’s entire East Asian Studies community, including the LRCCS, the Center for Japanese Studies, and the Nam Center for Korean Studies

My most recent research project attempted to provide a nuanced understanding of Chinese scholars’ perspectives on open access publishing. I have also embarked on a co-editing project to produce the second volume of A Scholarly Review of Chinese Studies in North America. In addition, my monograph on book and translation history is forthcoming with Brill.

I earned my PhD degree in Communications (media history) from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013. Before coming to the States, I obtained my MLS degree from Nanjing University with an emphasis on Chinese bibliography and print culture. I also hold dual BA degrees in Publishing and Laws from Wuhan University.
