Biography/Memoir

William B. Krumm, associate vice president for business operations, has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president for finance and controller at Texas A&M University, effective Feb. 1.

His appointment was approved by the Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System Dec. 1, acting on the recommendation of Texas A&M President Ray M. Bowen.

"Based on a long-standing successful administrative career with a major university and his business background, I expect that Bill Krumm will become a major asset to Texas A&M University, and I look forward to having him join my administrative team," Bowen said.

Krumm has been with the U-M since 1966 and has held nine progressively responsible positions, most directly related to financial operations.

Executive Vice President Farris W. Womack, to whom Krumm reports, said Krumm "has been a splendid University citizen. He has held a variety of jobs, each progressively more responsible, and has discharged those responsibilities effectively. His selection is an honor to him and an honor to the University of Michigan."

Commenting on his 30 years as a member of the Michigan family, Krumm said, "My thoughts go back over the 30 years and yes, I did start at Michigan as an accountant in February 1966 and as a student had worked as a temporary custodian. My career success at Michigan is all due to the outstanding people I have worked with.

"Martha and I have had the privilege to share our Michigan experience with the many people who make this University great," he added. "Our friends include staff, faculty, students and alumni, and we will miss all of you."

Prior to his current position, Krumm was director of financial operations for 17 years, responsible for University wide financial management, transaction accounting and all internal and external financial reporting, including annual certified financial statements, donor and sponsor reporting, forecasting and budget reporting for all University funds.

In his new post, Krumm will be responsible for the university's fiscal office, budgeting, purchasing services and contract administration/regulatory compliance. His duties will include financial planning, financial analysis, provisions of appropriate control and reports to assure compliance with state and federal laws and policies set by the Board of Regents.
