Biography/Memoir

Roy Muir joined the University of Michigan in 1976 as Associate Vice President of Development. Roy served as Associate Director of Development at Washington University in St. Louis, and Director of Development at Georgetown University Medical center in Washington D. C., before coming to Michigan.

Roy was responsible for planning, managing and directing the “Campaign for Michigan”, the first public university campaign with a goal of $1 billion.  The campaign, completed in 1997 raised $1.4 billion.

Roy served on several leadership forums for CASE, playing a key role in developing the higher education awards program. He also established standards for comprehensive campaign counting and reporting.

Roy worked with many nonprofit organizations in Ann Arbor, including the Ann Arbor Symphony, Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, Community Music School, Hands On Museum, and the Peace Neighborhood Center.
