This poster shows three map projections: conic, mercator, and azimuthal. The text at the top of the poster reads, “Maps are not true for all purposes.” Each projection is shown in relation to the globe to illustrate the projection, then shown as a flat image. On the bottom of the map, examples of each projections distortions are shown. Of particular interest is an image that displays how the Mercator distorts relative size by comparing the actual size of Greenland to the much smaller projected size.
