Description
Women in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries sometimes tried to pass as men for economic reasons. Some couples like the one pictured here were also romantically involved. Taken around 1905 in the Flint studio of D.H. Forsyth, this image was discovered in an antique shop in the 1980s.
