2008 Spring Commencement
In 2008, the University of Michigan announced that due to construction, the Spring Commencement would not be at the Michigan Stadium. Their suggestion of having the Graduation at a facility at Eastern Michigan University was met by a wide protest from the students.
The University of Michigan finally decided to have the Graduation on the DIAG with the steps of the Graduate Library as its stage.
