When Prophet Jones was arrested on a morals charge by an undercover Detroit policeman in 1956, scandal magazines like Confidential and Whisper discussed his "queerness" with a boldness avoided by mainstream newspapers. Although acquitted, Jones never regained his stature and died in 1971. The article shown here was published in October 1956.
