Sean McBride, 28, was attacked by 3 men for being gay in January 1994 while in the lobby of his apartment building. After a half-hour of insults, six shots were fired, resulting in the permanent paralysis of McBride. During the incident a Pinkerton Security guard was on the scene, but instead of getting the men away from McBride, she merely watched and reportedly even laughed at some of the remarks by attackers. McBride was later awarded $10 million in a suit against Pinkerton.
