Produced by the Sisterhood of Rodef Shalom Temple, this cookbook raised funds to create a scholarship that was given “to a worthy girl of Allegheny County for a fouryear course at the University of Pittsburgh.” With over 350 copies sold in the first few months at $1.00 a piece, Yetta Kamler was able to receive the first scholarship with a $65 check for tuition, carfare, and textbooks. The book has no explicit mention of the congregation or anything denoting it as a Jewish charity cookbook.
