Isaac Levine and I have immersed ourselves in the troubling yet rewarding world of guitar effects pedal construction. What began as a short project designed to bolster our knowledge of circuitry in musical instruments has now turned into a lengthy trek to explore the instructional resources of the internet, the inventory of the North Campus WorkBench, and the variability of the electrical components required for guitar effects pedal construction.

Hi! My name is Isaac Levine, and I’m the supervisor for the new and improved WorkBench space inside of the Digital Media Commons. I’d like to introduce you to the resources available through this space, and also talk about exciting new developments.
The Shapiro Design Lab is now seeking submissions from University of Michigan students for its new Process Gallery, a project dedicated to showcasing the creative process in all the form it takes.
The Design-o-Matic 4000 is the new art and information project from the Shapiro Design Lab. It houses a variety of stuff from both the Library and campus organizations (all free at the push of a few buttons) and we want your help filling it!
The Design Lab Residency at the Shapiro Design Lab is a new program that offers students project support and mentorship while giving them the opportunity to help shape the learning communities of the Design Lab.
