Letterpress is hypnotic, addictive, and a little messy. Master wood engraver and letterpress expert Jim Horton joins the Book Arts Studio in the Duderstadt Center each Friday to run Letterpress Open Studio from 1-4.
The College of Engineering, the Library, and the Duderstadt Center made a joint decision to move the engineering books to offsite storage and make them available exclusively by delivery through the Library’s delivery service. Most of the engineering books the Library collects in print are also available electronically. Get in touch with a librarian for help by visiting the service desk on Level 2 or online via Ask a Librarian.
Have the University’s incredible collections inspired you to make creative work? The UpstART 200 archive is composed of examples from our art, design and architecture collections, holdings and history here at the University of Michigan. The project is now seeking submissions of work by students and alumni that respond to or reflect on the items in the archive.
Since March of this year, I’ve been running a personal Instagram account sharing new books and events and asking for input on artists’ books purchases. The account, @stampscollecting, is going to have an Instagram contest this November.
Fall brings new things to the Artists' Books collection! Several new books have arrived, including two brand-new titles, both from 23 Sandy Gallery; Market to Market by Laura V. Marsh, and KAMO by Kyoko Matsunaga.
