The German architect and engineer Frei Otto (1925-2015) has been posthumously awarded this year's Pritzker Architecture Prize. Best known for his work with lightweight tensile and membrane structures, he founded and led the Institute for Lightweight Structures at the University of Stuttgart. Numerous images of his work are in the AAEL Digital Image library.
America's post-industrial cities have been photographed over the past 40 years - often repeatedly, as "time-lapse" sequences - by Camilo José Vergara. These documentary and artistic images are now archived at the Library of Congress, with 5,000 of the 10,000 photographs available online.
