This week in the Shapiro Lobby we are featuring the exhibit "Photographing Multiculturalism" designed by Shima Sadaghiyani as part of a Library Mini-Grant. We will also be hosting poetry readings for two English 340 classes as well as a coloring book event.
The library is more than a place to read, study, or research. As the Graduate Intern for the Library Student Engagement Program I have found that library to be a place that stimulates creativity, fosters self-efficacy, and even creates a bit of fun. Come learn about all of the projects the Library's Mini-Grant Program is funding at this week's Shapiro Lobby display "Student Engagement Symposium: Library Mini-Grant Recipients." The display will be up before, during, and after the Student Engagement Symposium on April 11 and 12. We will also be hosting the monthly book display "April Showers," a therapy dog event, and information tables for a free speech app.
This week in the Shapiro Lobby we are featuring the exhibit "What We Carried: A Glimpse into the Refugee Crisis" designed by the student organization Michigan Refugee Assistance Program in partnership with the Library Mini-Grant Program. We will also be hosting a poetry open reading event as well as information tables for the Library Student Engagement Ambassadors.
Starting last October, I worked as the University of Michigan Library Student Engagement Ambassador. With six other wonderful ambassadors, we aimed to actively publicize library resources and services to the campus community through events and social media. We functioned in two different teams: the programming team focused on creating and planning events while the social media team concentrated on publicizing by making posts on Facebook and Twitter.
