The audience for children’s literature goes far beyond ages 2-12. The words and images of these books linger in our minds long after we’ve outgrown the suggested age ranges. Below are a few favorite children’s books from the staff of the Special Collections Library, featuring titles present in our Children’s Literature Collection. Celebrate Children’s Book Week with one of these suggestions, or share your own best-loved books in the comments!

This Week in Shapiro: May 2-9, 2016

Lattice wall in Shapiro Lobby with Audubon bird in background and text on a dark digital screen that says, "This week in Shapiro."

On display this week features the work of the U-M Library Student Engagement Fellows iTeam Project, led by Carrie Luke. The iTeam is developing an integrative toolkit for engagement at U-M, which focuses on filling the reflection gap before, during, and after engaged learning experiences. The screens feature the research process of the iTeam, reflections from students who have participated in various engaged learning initiatives, as well as a prototype of the toolkit in development by the iTeam.
